BI Analyst

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

‍

Dashboard Development & Visualisation

• Develop, update, and maintain interactive dashboards in Looker Studio Pro, connected to BigQuery as the primary data source
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into technical reporting requirements
• Ensure dashboards are user-friendly, visually clear, and focused on the metrics that matter most to the team

Data Analysis & Quality Assurance

• Regularly audit reports against source data to ensure accuracy. Investigate and resolve discrepancies before they reach management
• Write intermediate-to-complex SQL queries in BigQuery to explore data, validate logic, and prepare datasets for reporting
• Flag missing data or inconsistent formatting to Data Engineering to improve future reporting

Process Design & Standards

• Define and own the team's reporting standards — what a good dashboard looks like, how metrics should be documented, and how requests should be handled end-to-end
• Maintain a glossary of metrics to ensure consistent definitions across the business (e.g. "Revenue", "Churn")
• Create clear documentation (mock-ups, logic definitions, data dictionaries) to align Data Engineering on what data is needed and why

Collaboration & Enablement

• Conduct training sessions and walkthroughs for business users to ensure effective dashboard adoption
• Work closely with Data Engineering on pipeline requirements, communicating data needs clearly and proactively

AI-Assisted Analytics

• Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, generate SQL, surface insights faster, and improve reporting workflows
• Stay current with emerging AI capabilities relevant to BI and analytics

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

• Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation in BigQuery (joins, aggregations, CTEs, window functions)
• Proven experience building dashboards in Looker Studio Pro (experience with other tools like Power BI or Tableau is a plus)
• Familiarity with n8n or similar ETL/automation tools — enough to understand data pipelines and communicate effectively with the team building them
• Working knowledge of data modeling concepts (star schema, fact/dimension tables) — you don't need to build the model, but you must know how to query it effectively
• Demonstrated ability to define and communicate what "good" looks like in reporting — standards, templates, and repeatable processes
• Comfort using AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) to assist with SQL generation, analysis, and documentation
• Ability to challenge a metric request: "Does this data actually answer the business question?"
• Strong communicator — able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
• High attention to accuracy — you double-check your numbers before publishing
• Genuine curiosity about how the business works across Finance, Ops, and Sales
